Monday was spent at Hakkasan sipping some cocktails and enjoying variety of dimsums over mixologists and bartenders showing their skills off in some style.
We were at the venue for the Global Mixologist Competition wherein Hakkasan had partnered with Diplomatico which is a carefully crafted rum from Venezuela, here for the Global Mixologist Competition all the Hakkasan brand restaurants, were celebrating 10 years- long term- exclusive pouring partner association. It was for the very first time that a hospitality brand had partnered with a liquor brand for a global competition
Diplomatico is one of the largest rum producers in Venezuela and has distributed over 50 countries and recognized as one of the finest sipping rums in the world.
All Hakkasan, Yauatcha, Ling Ling and Sake No Hana restaurants around the world were a part of this competition. This was an intercontinental competition wherein the winners will be qualified and awarded an unforgettable trip to Venezuela as a prize, where the grand final will be taking place. The winner of the grand final will feature the winning drink as the new Hakkasan signature drink in all Hakkasan brand restaurant around the world including London, New York, Miami, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Shanghai.
The winning drink will be part of Global Hakkasan restaurants’ signature cocktail category called ‘Character’ with a selection of 8 signature cocktails from the original Hakkasan Hanway Place with drinks which are more than 15 years old.
The National Finals was held at Hakkasan India, with Hakkasan and Yauatcha mixologists from all over the country. Each mixologist were given exact 6 mins to prepare a cocktail with Asian influences, with the use of worldwide available ingredients and the use of Diplomatico rum. The winner will then qualify for the finals in Venezuela, set to be held in March- April 2018.
The judges were Pankaj Balachandran, India Ambassador Diplomatico, Abhishek Bindal- Avp operations, Hakkasan and Alfonso Castillo, Area Export Manager Asia Pacific Diplomatico.

All the six participants were fabulous and it was a very tough decision for the judges to select one winner amongst them.
But, finally they were able to narrow down on one winner and that was Mr. Macaulay Fernandez and his winning cocktail was Swoldier. It consisted of Orange and Pancake Liqueur, Vanilla bitters (house infused), lime juice, brown sugar, egg white and Diplomatico Rum (and was a highlight of the evening).
